Treat up to 20 Hives in 1 day with x1 20 Frame Varroa Controller.
(This means you will be running the Varroa Controller twice throughout the day with 2 frames from each hive on each cycle)
The Varroa Controller will have to be picked up and returned on the same day ready for use by the next Beekeeper.
The Varroa Controller is an innovative, chemical-free device used by beekeepers to eliminate Varroa destructor mites using precise heat treatment (hyperthermia). It heats capped bee brood frames to a specific temperature that is lethal to mites while allowing the developing bee pupae to remain unharmed.
How It Works
Because mites seek out capped brood cells to reproduce, approximately 60% to 80% of a hive's mite population is hidden safely inside them. The Varroa Controller exploits the differing heat tolerances of insects and mites: [1]
Frame Extraction: Beekeepers shake the adult bees off the capped brood frames and place the frames into the controller.
Controlled Heating: The device applies a tightly regulated, uniform heat (usually around 41°C to 42°C / 106°F to 108°F) along with correct ventilation and humidity.
Mite Elimination: The sustained elevated temperature kills the mites, while the developing bees easily survive and develop normally
